Outside fire at Smithtown Highway Department Yard

At 17:18 on Thursday April 14, 2022 the Nesconset Fire Department responded to a report of a brush fire in the Smithtown Highway Department yard located on Montclair Avenue. Initial arriving units found an area of brush burning and a pile of plastic corrugated drain pipe on fire. Engine 4-4-2 responded and firefighters utilized the deck gun to quickly knock down the fire. Brush truck 4-4-8 and Engine 4-4-1 responded to the scene and assisted with fire suppression. All units operated under the command of Assistant Chief Frank Ragona and cleared from the scene at 18:54.
