On Friday January 21st, 2022 at 2220 hours, the Nesconset Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire on Galahad Lane. Upon arrival to the residence, Chief of Department AJ Anderson observed heavy smoke with visible fire on the second floor and confirmed a working fire.

Mutual aids from Ronkonkoma FD, Centereach FD, Central Islip FD, and St. James FD responded to the scene with their engines. Setauket FD responded with their Ladder truck and Smithtown FD was there with their Rapid Intervention Team. Hauppauge FD and St. James FD provided apparatus to standby at headquarters in case of other alarms during the fire.

The fire was quickly knocked down and all personnel were released from the scene at midnight. The water used to extinguish the fire created additional obstacles as the temperatures were below-freezing and the water froze on the ground throughout the incident.

All occupants evacuated safely and their cats were found unharmed.

I want to thank all the firefighters and other responders that came to our street last night and took care of the fire. Made me proud of the Nesconset Fire Department.
