At 6:06pm the Nesconset Fire Department responded to a brush fire on Forest Avenue.

Chief Frank Ragona arrived on scene and found a large area of bamboo and brush on fire. The area of bamboo on fire was very close to a structure on the property. Brush Truck 4-4-8 arrived on scene and deployed three booster lines to start knocking down the flames. Engine 4-4-2 arrived on scene and an 1-3/4” line was stretched. As the fire suppression was underway a quick search of the structure was performed to ensure it was empty and to ensure no fire extended inside. Tower Ladder 4-4-7 responded to the scene and assisted with wetting down the trees and the large area that burned.

Ambulances 4-4-6A and 4-4-6B and First Responder 4-4-80 were also on scene.

All units returned to station at 7:13PM

It was quite a busy day starting with a Cardiac Arrest, and a long series of calls including 3 additional EMS Responses, 2 Motor Vehicle Accidents, 3 Automatic Fire Alarms, an investigation for smoke in the area, a Carbon Monoxide investigation in a residence, and a Mutual Aid response to the St. James Fire Department for a reported structure fire.
