On Thursday April 13, 2023 at 2:48pm the Nesconset Fire Department responded on a mutual aid request to the Lakeland Fire Department for a Commercial Structure Fire on Veterans Memorial Highway.

A fire that started on the exterior or the structure rapidly spread through the landscaping in the front of the structure and extended into the exterior wall.

Nesconset Tower Ladder 4-4-7 responded along with units from the Central Islip, Ronkonkoma, Bohemia and Holbrook Fire Departments and Sayville Community Ambulance.

The Nesconset Fire Department also responded to a Brush Fire along the westbound lanes of NYS Route 347 during this alarm.

Due to the extreme dry conditions conditions we are currently experiencing and combined with the high winds please remember to ensure all cigarettes and cigars are fully extinguished when disposed and to be careful with outside fire pits, outdoor fire places, etc.
