Working Fire at Multiple Family Dwelling

The Nesconset Fire Department was activated for a Residential Structure Fire on Smithtown Boulevard at 16:04 on August 16, 2022. The 911 caller who reported the fire stated there was a possible occupant in the 3rd floor apartment.

Initial arriving units found smoke and flames visible on the third floor of a multiple family dwelling. Chief Frank Ragona transmitted the Working Fire and confirmed all occupants were out of the building. Firefighters from Engine 4-4-3 along with firefighters from Ronkonkoma Engine 5-24-10 stretched and operated two 1-3/4” hand lines and established a positive water supply. Mutual aid units from the St. James, Lakeland, Smithtown and Hauppauge Fire Departments assisted with searches, placing a third hand line in service, ventilation, overhaul and securing the fire building. First Responder 4-4-80 and Ambulance 4-4-6A was on scene for EMS and Firefighter Rehab.

All units operated under the command of Chief Ragona and were released from the scene at 17:39. Fire Marshals from the Smithtown Department of Public Safety remained on scene to complete their Fire investigation.
