Nesconset FD Busy in the Early Morning

Just after midnight on Monday, January 17, 2022 the Nesconset Fire Department was activated for a report of an electrical transformer on fire in the vicinity of Smithtown Boulevard and Old Nichols Road. Initial arriving units found the power out in the area and a utility pole on fire on Nichols Road just south of Smithtown Boulevard. Engine 442 responded and stood by awaiting the arrival of PSE&G

While on scene awaiting the arrival of PSE&G the department was activated for an investigation of an electrical hazard at a nearby residence on Roosevelt Avenue at 00:24 which Engine 442 relocated to.

At 00:30 the Department was activated to respond to a report of a Motor Vehicle Accident on NYS Route 347 in the vicinity of Hamlet Woods Drive. Initial arriving units found a car that left the roadway and struck a utility pole and the occupant of the vehicle seriously injured. First Responder 4480 and Ambulance 446B arrived on scene and EMS personnel administered treatment and immediately transported the patient to the hospital. They were assisted by personnel from second arriving ambulance 446A. Firefighters from Engine 442 secured the accident vehicle and the scene.

Approximately 2 minutes after the activation for the motor vehicle accident, the Department was activated for an Automatic Fire Alarm at 3050 Middle Country Road in Lake Grove at 00:32. The investigation at that location was handled by Engine 441.

All units cleared from the MVA and Automatic alarm and were turned out again at 01:07 for an Automatic Fire Alarm on Angela Court. Engines 441 and 442 responded to that location.

At 01:47 the Department was activated for an Automatic Alarm at 248 Smithtown Boulevard, in the vicinity of the the prior utility pole fire. Engine 442 responded to that location for the investigation.

All units operated under the command of Chief AJ Anderson and finally returned to station at 02:11.
