75 Maple Ave., Smithtown

10/25/2003

This fire took place on Saturday Morning at approximately 1100 hrs on October 25th 2003 at 75 Maple Avenue. Four apartments were heavily damaged and the remaining had smoke and water damage. Operating at this fire was the Smithtown Fire Department under the command of Chief Tim Krafts. Assisting Smithtown was Hauppauge, Nesconset, Saint James, Kings Park Fire Departments with Nissequogue F.D. filling in at Smithtown Hq. If there were any injuries they were minor in nature. The fire was under control in about one hour. Its origin and cause was investigated by the Smithtown Fire Marshals Office in conjunction with officers from the Suffolk County Police Arson Squad. It is my understanding that there preliminary investigation determined that the fire was of accidental origin in one of the downstairs apartments (Electrical in Nature).
